DIETERICH -- Dieterich Junior High School picked up two victories over Effingham Sacred Heart in girls basketball action Thursday.

Dieterich tallied a 22-0 win in seventh-grade play. Dieterich was led by Veronica Miramontes with 10 points and Ruby Westendorf with eight.

In eighth-grade competition, Dieterich won 20-5, taking a 9-2 first half lead. Cortney Brummer scored six points for the winners.

At Vandalia

Altamont competed in the Vandalia Tournament and picked up seventh and eighth grade wins over Pocahontas Thursday.

Altamont won the seventh-grade game, 26-8. Grace Nelson had 13 points for the winners.

In eighth-grade competition, Altamont was a 30-18 winner. Nelson led the way with 18 points.
