The Teutopolis Lady Shoes advanced to the Class 2A Elite Eight Thursday night with a 56-25 over the Sullivan Lady Redskins. The Lady Shoes won the St. Anthony Sectional Tournament championship, and will move on to Super-Sectional action Monday at 8pm at Salem High School.

Despite Teutopolis posting a 31-point win, it was anything but easy early in the game. Sullivan, in fact, held an 8-6 lead after the first quarter. The Shoes started to respond in the second period, though, outscoring Sullivan 12-5 to hold an 18-13 lead at halftime.

The Lady Shoes took over the game in the second half, outpointing Sullivan 24-8 in the third quarter to lead 42-21, and then outpointed the Lady Redskins 14-4 in the final quarter to post the big win.

Marianna Hemmen led Teutopolis in scoring with 15 points. Claire Bushur came off the bench to score 14 points, and Jolene Bueker totaled 10 points. Also for the Lady Shoes: Sadie Bueker 8, Morgan Mette 5, and Macy Michels and Hope Bueker 2 points apiece.

The Lady Shoes improved to 27-6 on the season, and will take on Breese Mater Dei in the 8pm Monday game at Salem. Mater Dei won the Hamilton County Sectional in McLeansboro, defeating Harrisburg 55-44.
