Cumberland Shootout, Newton Downs Pana

TOLEDO -- Cumberland High School hosted the National Trail Conference vs. Little Okaw Valley Conference Boys Basketball Shootout Saturday.
In the opening contest, Martinsville downed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 59-47.
The Bluestreaks took a 26-11 opening quarter lead and that was the game.
CHBC had one player in double figures. Dylan Webster, a junior, scored 15 points. Nick Miller chipped in with nine.
In the second contest, North Clay (Louisville) downed Hutsonville/Palestine, 73-61.
The third game went to Altamont over Tri-County, 68-38.
The Indians ran off to a 22-11 opening quarter lead and led 35-17 at halftime.
Mitchell Stevenson led Altamont with 26 points. He hit eight field goals, including three trifectas, and was seven of nine at the line.
Also in double figures was Alek Biggs with 20. Biggs hit eight field goals, including three trifectas, and was one of two at the line.
Neoga downed Villa Grove/Heritage, 48-37 in the fourth contest,.
In game five, South Central was a 64-47 winner over Arcola. The Cougars held a 31-25 halftime lead and led by that same margin going into the final quarter. From there, South Central had a 19-8 run led by Logan Lotz with 10 of his 22 points in that quarter. Lotz hit seven field goals, including two three-pointers, and was six of eight at the line.
Leading the Cougars was Trent Geiler with 26 points. He connected on 10 field goals, four of those from three point range, all in the second period, and two of two at the line.
Game six was a 54-43 win for Cumberland over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg.
The Pirates led 26-21 at halftime then in the second half put the contest totally away by hitting nine of 11 from the free throw line with Connor Butler connecting on three trifectas.
Tyson Magee scored 15 for the winners, hitting four field goals and seven of nine at the line. Zach Wolke chipped in with 10 while Butler and Brennyn Cutts had nine each.
Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Isaac Kramer with 14 points and Christian Kessler with 10.
St. Elmo/Brownstown finished out the evening with a 55-45 win over Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond.
SEB ran off to 18-9 opening quarter lead and led 30-22 at halftime. ALAH came back with a 12-10 third period to trail only 40-34 going into the final period but SEB got back on the scoring binge with a 15-11 final period.
Lewis Brown led the winners with 25 points while Isaac Maxey tallied 15 and Andy Goldsborough 10.
The final game of the evening featuring Dieterich against Bethany Okaw Valley was postponed to this coming Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bethany.

At Newton
Newton captured a victory for Coach Doug Mammoser with a 60-37 tally over Pana Saturday.
The Eagles trailed Pana 15-14 after the opening quarter but came back to take a 24-20 halftime lead and led 44-32 going into the final quarter.
Nick Cohorst led the way with 23 points while Jack Chapman and Zach Jansen tallied 12 each.
