Effingham High School finished third at the Apollo Conference Freshman Boys Basketball Tournament during the weekend.
In the first game, Effingham claimed a 58-51 win over Charleston. The Hearts held a 26-25 haltime lead and led 39-33 going into the final quarter.
Tristin Duncan scored 21 points while Max Woelfer added 14 and Drew Thompson 11.
In the second contest, the Hearts fell to Lincoln, 58-24. Lincoln ran off to a 23-8 opening quarter lead and never looked back.
The Hearts were led by Tucker Moeller with five points.
In the third place game, Effingham downed Mahomet-Seymour, 63-49.
The Hearts leaped out to a 22-8 opening quarter lead and was never headed the rest of the eway.
Duncan scored 26 for the Hearts and that included seven field goals and 12 ofd 15 from the free throw line. D. Thompson chipped in with 11.
