There might be a better team in the state of Illinois than the Danville Vikings, but most of those gathered at J.H. Griffin Gym Saturday for the Teutopolis Shootout don't think they've seen that team.

The Vikings put on an exhibition, especially in the second half, as they defeated the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes 86-51 to close out the shootout.

Just ahead of the contest, the St. Anthony Bulldogs defeated the Marshall Lions 87-53. Both games were heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com

Danville improved to 20-2 on the season with the impressive victory. The Vikings led 13-7 after one quarter and had pushed the lead to 30-19 by halftime. The third quarter was the difference, though, as Danville outscored the Shoes 30-11 and led 60-30 heading to the fourth quarter. The final quarter was point-filled, as the Vikings outscored T-Town 26-21 to post the 35-point win.

Eleven different players scored for Danville, led by Kendle Moore with 19 points. Moore on Friday night had become Danville High School's all-time leading scorer. 6'7" senior Julian Pearl scored 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Elijah Davis also finished in double figures with 10 points.

Teutopolis placed three players in double figures, led by Clint Weber with 15 points. Eric Kremer scored 13 points with seven rebounds and Lee Hardiek scored 10 points with six rebounds. Also for T-Town: Collin Kreke 6, Lucas Drees 3, and Dawson Smith 2, but Smith also had seven assists.

Teutopolis made 38% of its shots, 20 of 53 including 6 of 19 threes. The Shoes were just 5 of 11 from the line, grabbed 25 rebounds, but turned the ball over 20 times, nine of those coming in Danville's big third quarter.

Danville was 35 of a whopping 73 shots for 48%, including 11 of 27 threes. The Vikings made 5 of 7 foul shots, pulled down 39 rebounds, and turned the ball over just nine times.

Teutopolis is now 17-8 on the season.
