Effingham captured both freshman and sophomore boys basketball wins over Salem Wednesday evening.
In the freshman contest, the Hearts were 65-52 winners. The Hearts held a 37-25 first half lead and led 54-37 going into the final quarter.
Drew Thompson led the way with 22 points while Max Woelfer added 19 and Tristin Duncan with 14.
In the sophomore game, Effingham edged Salem, 36-32.
The Hearts and Wildcats were tied at 6-6 after the opening quarter before EHS took a 16-8 halftime lead. Salem came back with a 24-20 second half but couldn't get over that second period by the Hearts.
Arlen Beck led EHS with nine points.
