Dieterich Beats SEB in Boys Cage Action

Dieterich High School came back strong from National Trail Conference Tournament play by banging home 73 points in a rout of St. Elmo/Brownstown, 73-48 in boys action Tuesday.
The Movin' Maroons stepped out to a 17-7 opening quarter lead as Ryan Radloff connected on three baskets. Radloff, a 6-foot senior, then really went to work in the second period. He nailed three straight three-pointers before putting in a regular basket then finishing out with another three-pointer for 15 in the quarter.
St. Elmo/Brownstown never could get untracked despite connecting on 10 of 14 free throws.
Dieterich had three players hit the double digit mark. Radloff led the way with 28, finishing out with four three-pointers, all in that second quarter. Callaway Campton chipped in with six field goals and was four of four at the line for 16. Tyler Higgs added 14.
SEB was also led by three players in double figures. Andy Goldsborough, a sophomore, led the way with 14 points while Lewis Brown added 12 and Isaac Maxey 11.

At Altamont
Flora came calling and picked up a non-conference victory over Altamont, 70-59, Tuesday evening.
The Indians held a 16-13 opening quarter lead but Flora came roaring back with a 19-9 second period run. Altamont pulled within 48-43 going into the final period but Flora righted the ship and had a 22-16 final quarter to pull away.
Flora had the one-two scoring punch of Brown and Leib with 21 and 20 respectively.
Altamont was led by Alek Biggs with 24 points as he hit 10 field goals that included two three-pointers and was two of two at the line. Mitchell Stevenson added 13 and Denver Duckwitz finished with nine.
Altamont edged Flora, 47-45, to win the junior varsity game.
