Effingham Wins Frosh/Soph Boys Games

Effingham High School played host to Charleston in freshman/sophomore boys basketball action Thursday and claimed two victories.
In the freshman contest, Effingham won 45-31. Taking a 19-16 opening half lead, Effingham then had a slight 9-6 third period run but put the game away in the fourth with a 17-9 lead.
Micahel Woltman led the Hearts with 12 points while Jared Minor and Drew Vasquez chipped in with eight points each.
In the sophomore contest, Effingham was a 66-45 winner. The Hearts jumped out to an early 18-9 first quarter lead and never looked back in this one. Michael Carie tallied 12 points in the opening quarter and had 23 by halftime. Carie finished with 33 to lead the Hearts. Frank Kasdorf chipped in with 10.
