Newton Beats L'Ville in Boys Cage Action

NEWTON -- Newton High School pushed its win record up with a 61-43 Little Illini Conference victory over Lawrenceville in boys basketball action Monday evening.

The Eagles ran off to a 23-9 opening quarter lead and that was the game. In that run, Nick Cohorst nailed two three pointers and two regular baskets for 10 in the quarter while Jack Chapman scored eight points. The Eagles hit five three-pointers in the period.

Cohorst finished the contest with 23 points while Chapman chipped in with 13 and Zach Jansen added 12.

Newton is now 4-1 in the LIC, 16-6 overall.
