PATOKA -- Altamont Lutheran is headed to state.

Altamont Lutheran downed Odin 40-25 in overtime at the SIJHSAA Patoka Boys Basketball Regional championship Friday evening.

Odin jumped out to an 11-0 lead and led 13-3 after the first quarter. ALIS then went on a 19-5 run in the second and third quarters to lead by three going into the final period. Odin outscored ALIS 8-5 in the fourth to force overtime.

The ALIS Rockets put the game away in overtime, outscoring Odin 16-1. ALIS was 14 of 24 from the free throw line in the game, however the Rockets went 12 of 16 from the free throw line in overtime.

Noah Klimpel was the lone player in double figures with 12. Tyler Robbins added eight.

ALIS will head to the Class S State Tournament at Rend Lake College Saturday and will face either Pinckneyville or Oakdale at 5 p.m. Those two teams play tonight for a regional championship.

Class 4A Effingham Regional

Effingham fell in its own regional Saturday  to Stephen Decatur, 58-20.

Stephen Decatur ripped off to an 18-2 opening quarter lead and led 39-8 at halftime.

The Mustangs were led by Pals with nine points.

In the opening contest, Taylorville won over Clinton, 44-30. The third game went to Mount Zion over Mattoon, 35-19.

Taylorville will face Decatur Jefferson at 6 p.m. today while Stephen Decatur meets Mount Zion at 7:15.

Class 1A Stewardson-Strasburg Regional

Newton St. Thomas claimed a 28-21 win over Effingham Sacred Heart in the Stew-Stras Regional Saturday.

St.Thomas took a 9-7 opening quarter lead but Sacred Heart came back to lead 13-11 at hafltime. The Shamrocks still led 17-11 going into the final quarter when St. Thomas came roaring back with a 14-4 run to pull out the victory.

St. Thomas was led by Schafer with 12 points.

Sacred Heart was led by Feldhake with eight points.

In the second contest, Dieterich handed Martinsville a 34-23 loss.

Tuesday's games feature Sigel St. Michael against Newton St. Thomas at 6 followed by Stewardson-Strasburg taking on Dieterich at 7:15.

Class 2-A Effingham St. Anthony Regional

Hutsonville and Paris Crestwood advanced in opening round play at the Effingham St. Anthony Regional Saturday.

Hutsonville won over Kansas, 45-30 while Paris Crestwood downed Oblong, 37-32.

Tonight's games feature Neoga against Hutsonville at 6 followed by St. Anthony taking on Paris Crestwood at 7:15.

 

Class 8-2A St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional

Only one game was contested Saturday in the St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional.

Altamont pummeled Mulberry Grove, 48-11.

Altamont will now face South Central at 6:15 tonight followed by North Clay (Lousiville) against St. Elmo/Brownstown at 7:30.

 

Class 8-1A Pana Sacred Heart Regional

Five games were contested Saturday at the Pana Sacred Heart Regional.

Decatur Garfield Montessori edged Decatur Holy Family, 43-42 while Pana Sacred Heart won over Bement, 61-18. Windsor  downed Decatur Lutheran, 40-26.

Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes then defeated Decatur Garfield Montessori, 52-30 while Pana won over Windsor, 70-40.

The championship is scheduled for Thursday with Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes against Pana Sacred Heart. The winner of this regional advances to the Sgiel St. Michael Sectional Wednesday, Feb. 7.

 

Class 8-2A Assumption Central A&M

Pawnee and Findlay Okaw Valley advanced in the Assumption Central A&M Regional.

Pawnee downed Morrisonville, 34-28 while Findlay Okaw Valley won over Ramsey, 38-23.

Tonight's game will feature Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City against Nokomis at 6.

Assumption Central A&M and Pawnee will square off at 6 p.m. Tuesday followed by Findlay Okaw Valley against the winner of tonight's game at 7:15.

 

Class 8-3A Lawrenceville Parkview Regional

Jasper County saw its season come to a close in the Lawrenceville Parkview Regional Saturday.

Jasper County fell to Lawrenceville Parkview, 37-29. Jasper County took a 6-4 opening quarter lead but trailed 13-9 at halftime. Parkview then had a 24-18 second half.

Jasper County was led by Meinhart with 10 points. Jasper County finished the season with a 10-9 record.

In the second game, Casey-Westfield won over Red HIll (Bridgeport), 35-12 while Marshall downed Robinson Nuttall, 47-38.

Tonight's games feature Teutopolis against Lawrenceville Parkview at 5 followed by Casey-Westfield taking on Marshall at 6:30.

Class 8-3A Paris Mayo Regional

Paris Mayo picked up a win in its own regional Saturday. Mayo defeated Sullivan, 33-29.

In the second contest, Arcola won over Cumberland, 35-20.

Shelbyville Moulton then pounded Arthur, 42-12.

Tuesday's games feature Macon Meridian against Paris Mayo at 6 followed by Arcola facing Shelbyville Moulton at 7:15. The winners advance to the title contest Thursday and the regional winner will travel on to the Teutopolis Regional  Wednesday, Feb. 7
