EHS Falls to Mt. Zion, T-town Downs BMD

MOUNT ZION -- Mount Zion was dominate in a 72-44 victory over Effingham in Apollo Conference boys basketball competition Friday evening.

The Hearts held a 15-11 opening quarter lead but here came the Braves. Mount Zion had a 22-11 second period and finished the game with a 23-5 final quarter.

Landon Wolfe, a 6-foot-5 junior, led the Hearts with 26 points. He was the lone EHS player in double figures.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis took the early lead then held off a final quarter challenge to pull out a 67-56 win over Breese Mater Dei Friday evening.

The Wooden Shoes led 33-19 at halftime and 53-31 going into the final quarter. Mater Dei came back with a 25-15 run but couldn't make up the deficit.

T-town had four players hit double digits. Ian Addis and Eric Kremer finished with 14 each while Lee Hardiek added 11 and Clint Weber 10. Kremer led in rebounds with seven.

The Wooden Shoes drop to 16-5 on the season.

Casey-Westfield claimed the championship of the Little Illini Conference Tournament Friday evening.

Casey-Westfield defeated Robinson 67-44 for the title.

In the third place contest, Marshall won over Flora, 66-59.

The consolation championship went to Olney over Newton, 60-52.
