Lady Hearts Defeat Lady Shoes

The Effingham Lady Hearts defeated the Teutopolis Lady Shoes 53-46 in action at EHS Friday night. The game was heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com

It was a battle of two 20-game winning teams, both of whom are rated in the Top 10 in their respective classes.

Effingham led throughout the contest, pushing their lead to 20 points at one time. The Lady Hearts were up 17-6 after the first quarter, led 31-16 at halftime, and were up 40-25 at the end of three quarters. Teutopolis fought back, outscoring Effingham 21-13 in the final period, but the Lady Hearts hit their foul shots down the stretch to preserve the win.

Effingham made 46% of its shots, 18 of 39 including 4 of 12 threes. EHS was 13 of 16 from the foul line including 9 of 11 in the fourth quarter. Teutopolis made 19 of 49 shots, 38%, including 4 of 12 threes. The Lady Shoes made 4 of 7 free throws and committed nine turnovers to 13 for Effingham.

Carsyn Fearday led Effingham in scoring with 23 points. Also for the Lady Hearts: Shelby Myers 9, Natalie Carie 8, Abby Weis 5, Miranda Fox 4, Aly Armstrong 3, and Bria Barr 1.

Jolene Bueker scored 18 points to lead Teutopolis, while Marianna Hemmen added 10 points. Macy Michels scored 8 points, Karsyn Mette added 6 points.and Morgan Mette scored 4 points.

Effingham improved to 22-2 with the victory, while Teutopolis is now 22-5.
