STRASBURG -- Stewardson-Strasburg and Dieterich will square off for the championship of the Class 7-1A Stewardson-Strasburg Boys Basketball Regional after picking up victories Monday.
Stew-Stras downed Newton St. Thomas, 38-17. Stew-Stras held St. Thomas scoreless in the opening quarter and led 18-4 at halftime.
Nothaus led the winners with 13 points while J. Wittenberg added 12. Stew-Stras improves to 20-1 on the season.
In the next game, Dieterich defeated Mattoon St. John's, 44-38. The two teams were tied at 9-9 after the opening quarter. St. John's edged ahead at halftime 19-16.
Dieterich came back to lead 33-30 then had an 11-8 final period.
Kidd led the scoring for the winners with 21 while Britton added 19.
The championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday.

Class 7-1A Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes Regional
Pana Sacred Heart and the host school will be playing for this regional championship tonight at 6.
Pana Sacred Heart trounced Decatur Holy Family, 71-39. Our Lady of Lourdes downed Decatur Lutheran, 45-42.
The winner of this regional advances to the Pana Sacred Heart Sectional to face the winner of the Stewardson-Strasburg Regional January 31 at 6:30 p.m.
Class 7-2A Findlay Okaw Valley Regional
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City easily handled Assumption Central A&M in the Class 2A Findlay Okaw Valley Regional Monday.
CHBC won 30-18. CHS took a 12-5 opening quarter lead and led 22-6 at halftime.
Trevor Thies scored 16 for the winners.
In the second game, Morrisonville outlasted Nokomis, 28-26. Morrisonville and CHBC will now meet for the championship Thursday at 6 p.m.
Class 7-2A Findlay Okaw Valley Regional

Class 7-2A South Central Regional
Only one game was contested Monday in the South Central Regional.
North Clay (Louisville) pounded Mulberry Grove, 42-19. North Clay now advances to face Altamont at 7:15 p.m. today. The opening contest will feature South Central against St. Elmo/Brownstown at 6.
Class 7-2A Neoga Regional
Host Neoga tallied a 22-13 victory over Kansas in the opening game of the evening.
The second contest went to Hutsonville over Oblong, 18-16.
Neoga now faces Effingham St. Anthony tonight at 6 followed by Paris Crestwood against Hutsonville at 7:15.
Class 7-3A Marshall Regional
Teutopolis had no trouble against Lawrenceville Parkview in the first game of the evening at the Marshall Regional.
The Wooden Shoes tallied a 61-5 victory. T-town held Parkview scoreless in the opening quarter for a 24-0 lead.
B. Niebrugge and Niemerg scored 12 each for the Shoes.
In the second game, Casey-Westfield beat Marshall, 35-29.
T-town and Casey-Westfield meet for the championship Thursday at 6 p.m.
Class 7-3A Marshall Regional

Class 7-3 A Sullivan Regional
Macon Meridian upset top-seeded Cumberland, 34-30 in the opening game of the evening at the Sullivan Regional Monday.
In the second contest, Arthur downed Arcola, 41-24.
Macon Meridian and Arthur meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday for the regional championship.
Class 7-4A Taylorville Regional
Effingham's season came to a close in the Taylorville Regional Monday.
The Mustangs, top-seeded, fell to Mount Zion, 35-33.
In the second contest, Decatur Jefferson downed second-seeded Mattoon 41-40.
Mount Zion and Decatur Jefferson will meet for the championship tonight at 6.
SIJHSAA Class S Regional
Iuka claimed the opening contest in the Class S Regional Monday evening.
Iuka downed St. Peter, no score was reported.
In the second contest, Patoka trounced St. Theresa, 70-33.
In Wednesday games, Patoka takes on Odin at 6 p.m. followed by Altamont Lutheran facing Iuka at 7:30.
