Special recognition was given the Teutopolis Lady Shoes basketball team between games Saturday afternoon at J.H. Griffin Gym at Teutopolis High School.

The girls basketball program was recognized for achieving more than 1,000 career victories, just the second team in the state to do so.

Among those participating in the ceremony, left to right, are Teutopolis Athletic Director Mike Wilson, late Coach Dennis Koester's daughters Katriina and Holly with one of Dennis' grandchildren, former coach Wendy Hawickhorst, current Lady Shoes Coach Laurie Thompson, and Steve Allen of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association who presented the plaque to Thompson.
