St. Anthony Posts Comfortable Win Over Shelbyville

After a tough skid involving a series of narrow losses, the St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs needed a big win and they posted one Thursday night, defeating the Shelbyville Lady Rams 61-20. The contest at the Enlow Center was heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com

St. Anthony led 20-5 after one quarter and continued to extend the lead, with the 41-point winning margin the largest of the contest. The Bulldogs were up 31-12 at halftime and 51-14 after three quarters, outscoring Shelbyville 20-2 in the period.

The Lady Bulldogs shot 50% from the field, 26 of 52, including 3 of 9 on threes. St. Anthony made 7 of 10 free throws, turned the ball over just 10 times, and grabbed 31 rebounds.

Shelbyville was 7 of 40 from the field including five missed threes. The Rams made 4 of 7 foul shots, turned the ball over a whopping 26 times, and grabbed 24 rebounds.

The Lady Bulldogs' performance featured balanced scoring; Clare McHugh with 13 points, Shea Kinkelaar and Olivia Clausius with 12 points apiece, Keri McGuire with 9, Meg Richards 8, Sydney Gibson 5, and Reese Jones 2.

Carson Beyers with 7 points and Holly Metzger with 6 led Shelbyville, now 4-16 on the season.

St. Anthony, finally close to completely healthy, improved to 6-13.

St. Anthony won the JV game 55-13. Reese Jones led with 19 points, while Abby Repking and Kaitie Rogers each scored 10 points.
