Effingham and Olney split boys freshman/sophomore basketball victories Tuesday evening.
The Hearts won the sophomore contest 52-43. Olney took a 14-7 opening quarter lead and led 26-19 at halftime. The Hearts came back with a 15-5 third quarter to push ahead 34-31 and finished out with an 18-12 final period.
Three players scored in double figures for EHS. Dalton Greene led the way with 12 points while Austin Waldhoff had 11 and Sam Thompson 10.
In the freshman contest, Olney pulled out a 49-47 victory.
Olney edged out to a 17-16 first quarter then led 30-25 at halftime. The Tigers pushed their lead to 41-33 going into the final quarter then had to hold off a charging Effingham for the two point win.
The Hearts were led by Drew Thompson with 18 points and Jackson Lee with 15, that included five three-pointers.
