Hatchets, Shoes Winners in Girls Basketball

WINDSOR -- Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg High School edged Brownstown/St. Elmo in girls basketball competition Tuesday evening, 45-42.

WSS took a 14-8 opening quarter lead but trailed BSE 21-20 at halftime. BSE pushed its lead up to 34-31 at the end of the third quarter. The Hatchets came back with a 14-8 run as Megan Schlechte connected for six points to pull out the victory.

Schlechte finished with 12 points for the winners.

BSE was led by Claire Wilhour with 17 points.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis High School got off to a slow start but made up for it in the second half for a 51-32 win over Flora Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes led 7-5 after the opening quarter and 19-12 at halftime. Their scoring heated up in the second half with a 32-20 run.

Three players finished in double figures led by Macy Michels with 12 points while Jolene Bueker and Morgan Mette had 10 points each.

Michels led in steals with two. J. Bueker had eight rebounds and Mette six. Sadie Bueker, Mariana Hemmen and Michels had three assists each. J. Bueker and Michels had three blocked shots each.
