St. Anthony ushered in the new year with a 64-32 win over North Clay in boys' high school basketball Tuesday night. The game at the Enlow Center was aired on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com.
The Bulldogs took an 18-7 lead after one quarter and extended the margin from there, leading 34-15 at halftime and 54-21 after three quarters.
St. Anthony shot 58% from the field, 26 of 45, including 8 of 17 threes. The Bulldogs made two of six foul shots, grabbed 28 rebounds and turned the ball over just 12 times.
North Clay was held to 29% shooting, 11 of 37 including 4 of 13 threes. The Cardinals made 8 of 14 foul shots, pulled down 15 rebounds and committed 15 turnovers.
Alex Beesley and Adam Levitt carried the majority of scoring chores for St. Anthony, Beesley with 16 points and Levitt with 15. Beesley scored nine points in the first quarter to help the Bulldogs to a good start.

St. Anthony improved to 14-2 on the season. North Clay dropped to 3-10.
St. Anthony won the junior varsity contest 72-41.
