St. Anthony Crowned Vandalia Tournament Champions

The St. Anthony Bulldogs won the 2017 Vandalia Holiday Tournament championship Friday night with a 49-38 victory over the Flora Wolves.

The Bulldogs went undefeated in the tournament, but the championship game win over the Wolves wasn't easy.

St. Anthony had a 12-7 lead after the first quarter, but Flora outscored the Bulldogs 19-9 in the second quarter to lead 26-21 at the half. The Bulldogs responded well in the third quarter, holding Flora to two points in the period and regaining the lead by the end of the period 31-28. The Bulldogs pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Wolves 18-10 to post the 11-point win and claim the title.

St. Anthony had three players in double figures. Cade Walsh and Adam Levitt each scored 12 points, while Jack Nuxoll added 10. Also for the Bulldogs: Alex Deters, Alex Beesley and Jaccob Dust with four points apiece, and Brandon Runge with three points.

Cade Walsh, Adam Levitt and Alex Deters made the All-Tournament Team.
