T-town Girls Claim Victories at Fairfield Meet

FAIRFIELD -- Teutopolis High School picked up two varsity wins and had a 1-1 junior varsity tally at the Fairfield Merry Mule Girls Basketball Tournament Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes opened with a 55-39 win over Edwards County (Albion).

The Shoes took an 18-9 opening quarter lead and had a 14-5 final period.

Three players hit double digits for the Shoes. Sadie Bueker tallied 12 while Savannah Grimes and Morgan Mette contributed 10 points each. J. Bueker and Mette had seven rebounds each. Grimes and Macy Michels had two steals each. Grimes had two assists.

In the second contest, T-town easily downed Murphysboro 57-27. The Shoes held a 33-15 halftime lead and never looked back.

The Shoes were led in scoring by Jolene Bueker with 14 points and Michels with 12. S. Bueker had four assists while J. Bueker had three. S. Bueker had two blocked shots. Michels led in rebounds with five and Claire Bushur had four. Michels led in steals with three.

The Teutopolis junior varsity squad downed Anna-Jonesboro 47-32 then fell to Flora 45-30.
