St. Elmo/Brownstown defeated Effingham Sacred Heart in both the seventh and eighth grade boys basketball games Tuesday.

SEB won the seventh-grade contest 40-34. SEB held a 15-13 halftime lead then had a 16-7 third quarter run.

Campbell tallied 16 for the winners while Pasley scored eight.

Sacred Heart was led by Dawson Lohman with 15.

In eighth-grade action, St. Elmo/Brownstown edged the Shamrocks 29-26.

SEB led 10-7 after the opening quarter and 17-13 at halftime. SEB had an 8-6 third period. Sacred Heart came back with a 7-4 final quarter run only to fall short.

Smith tallied 14 for the winners. Sacred Heart was led by Zerrusen with nine.

At Kinmundy

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City tallied two victories over South Central Tuesday evening.

CHBC won the seventh-grade contest 41-39. CHBC took an 11-5 opening quarter lead but South Central came back with an 11-5 count in the second quarter to tie the score at 16-16. CHBC moved ahead with a 13-12 third period and had a 12-11 final quarter.

Hayden Corley scored 10 points while Trevor Thies and Kenny Robbins had nine each for the winners. South Central was led by Watwood with 22 points and HIlmes with 13.

CHBC then downed South Central 47-43 in the eighth-grade game.

CHBC took a 14-6 opening quarter lead but South Central came back with an 18-9 second period to lead 24-23 at halftime. CHBC then had a 13-6 third period and held on for the victory.

Danie Lucas scored 14 for the winners while Waylon Robertson added 11.

South Central was led by Willshire with 22.
