SEB Captures Own Tourney Title, Saturday Scores

St. Elmo/Brownstown claimed the championship of its own tournament Saturday.
ST. ELMO -- St. Elmo/Brownstown High School captured the championship of its own holiday boys basketball tournament by downing Cumberland 66-40 Saturday.
SEB took a 17-7 opening quarter lead as Andy Goldsborough connected on three baskets including a trifecta for eight points and Lewis Brown put in two-three pointers. Isaac Maxey scored seven points in the period.
The lead stood at 37-12 at halftime. Brown scored seven points while Maxey added on to his total with seven points.
Cumberland came back in the second half but couldn't overcome that first half.
St.Elmo/Brownstown was led by Brown with 22 points, Maxey with 16 and Goldsborough with 13.
Cumberland was led by Tyson Magee with 24 points.
The third place game went to Mulberry Grove over Vandalia 61-52.
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City downed Ramsey 83-71 for the consolation championship.
CHBC edged out to a 12-9 opening quarter lead and led 26-21 at halftime.
The Bobcats then had an 18-7 third period and a 22-8 final quarter. Four players finished in double figures for the winners. Marshall Nohren led the way with 17 points followed by Keegan Martin 14, Dylan Webster 12 and Nick Miller 11.
Patoka beat Sandoval 75-33 for seventh place.
Named to the All-Tournament First Team were Lewis Brown (Most Valuable Player), Tyson Magee (Cumberland), Courtlyn Latham (Mulberry Grove), Isaac Maxey (St. Elmo/Brownstown) and Devon Little (Vandalia).
Second Team members were Wyatt Criner (Mulberry Grove), Zach Wolke (Cumberland), Nate Philpot (St. Elmo/Brownstown), Joey Linnabary (Mulberry Grove) and Keegan Martin (Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City).

At Teutopolis
Teutopolis played host to Robinson and sent the Maroons home with a 62-58 loss in action Saturday.
The Wooden Shoes edged out to a 12-8 opening quarter lead then had a 20-6 second period.
Robinson came back with a 24-18 third quarter run and had a 20-12 final period to pull within four.
T-town was led by Dawson Smith with 27 points while Clint Weber added 12 and Eric Kremer 11. Ian Addis led in assists with four. Weber led in blocked shots two. Smith had six rebounds. Weber led in steals with two.
The Shoes improve to 7-1 on the season. T-town also claimed the junior varsity game to improve to 3-1.

Wayne City Holiday Tournament
Webber Township (Bluford) won the championship of the Wayne City Holiday Tournament Saturday.
Webber Township edged Wayne City 46-43.
In the third place contest, Gallatin County downed Red Hill (Bridgeport) 65-47. Crab Orchard won over North Clay (Louisville) 68-50 for fifth place. Seventh place went to Cisne over Grayville 57-47.
