Illinois Dominates Longwood, 92-45

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Aaron Jordan led all scorers with 22 points and Trent Frazier added 20 in Illinois' dominant 92-45 win against Longwood on Wednesday at State Farm Center.

Michael Finke scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He hit the first basket of the game on a baseline jumper, buried his first two shots from downtown, and scored 14 of his 19 points in the first half.

The Lancers held a 12-10 lead with roughly 12 minutes remaining in the first half, but after a 3 by Finke, Longwood would never take the lead again. Illinois finished the half on an 18-4 run and entered the break with a 26-point lead.

Jordan, who leads the Illini with 29 made 3-pointers, was 4 of 8 from beyond the arc.

Illinois (8-4) out-rebounded Longwood 52 to 23, including a 27-8 edge in offensive rebounds which led to a 29-0 advantage in second chance points.

Longwood (3-7) committed 24 turnovers and struggled to operate under Illinois' pressure. The Lancers shot 34 percent from the field, 31.3 percent from beyond the arc and hit 16 field goals.

JaShaun Smith scored 10 points for the Lancers (3-7). Leading scorer Isaiah Walton, averaging 18.9 points per game, was held to four points in 14 minutes before leaving the game with a lower leg injury.

Up next, Illinois hosts New Mexico State for the Dynegy Shootout at the United Center in Chicago Saturday at 7 p.m.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

Junior guard Aaron Jordan scored a career-high 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting. Jordan, who entered the game as the nation's leader in three-point shooting, was 4-of-8 shooting from 3-point range. Jordan added eight rebounds, including seven offensive rebounds.
    
Freshman guard Trent Frazier scored a career-high 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting. Frazier topped his career high in back-to-back games after scoring 16 points at UNLV.
   
 RS Junior forward Michael Finke scored 19 points, his third-best scoring game of the season.
   
 Freshman forward Matic Vesel scored the first points of his career. He played a season-high 13 minutes.
   
 Freshman forward Greg Eboigbodin played a season-high 13 minutes. He had two points and three rebounds.
    
RS Sophomore guard Drew Cayce played a season-high eight minutes.
    
RS Junior forward Leron Black and RS Sophomore forward Kipper Nichols were out with injuries.
