COWDEN -- Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City High School handed Cumberland a 45-19 loss in girls basketball competition Tuesday evening.

CHBC took a 19-4 opening quarter lead and led 31-6 at halftime.

Jaelyn Robertson and Lauren Wojcik, both sophomores, led the Bobcats with 11 points each. Robertson also led the team in steals with five and assists with three. Wojcik led in rebounds with seven. Hailey Persinger added five rebounds.

At Casey

Brownstown/St. Elmo fell to Casey-Westfield 68-46 in non-conference action Tuesday.

The Warriors took a 15-8 opening quarter lead and led 30-16 at halftime. Casey-Westfield then had a 23-17 third period.

There was no stopping C-W's Warner who finished with 11 field goals and was five of seven at the line for 27 points. Morgan was just behind with eight field goals, that included one three-pointer, and three of five at the line for 20 points.

Brownstown/St. Elmo was led by Claire Wilhour, a 5-foot-5 sophomore, with 22 points. She hit six field goals, including two three-pointers, and was eight of 11 at the line. Olivia Campbell chipped in with nine points.
