Teutopolis Athletes, Former Athletes Are Everywhere at State Tournament

Teutopolis Junior High School will be playing for the Class 8-3A State Basketball championship Thursday at Warrensburg-Latham High School. The Wooden Shoes (26-1) will take on Monticello (25-2) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday for the state championship.
Along with Teutopolis playing for the title, the Shoes will be facing Monticello who is coached by a Teutopolis graduate and former player. Shelly (Rentfrow) Beery graduated from Teutopolis in 1991 and coaches the seventh and eighth grade girls squads at Monticello. Last week she coached the seventh-grade squad to a state title.
Also, Altamont fell in the Class 8-2A State Tournament Saturday to Bloomington Holy Trinity. Holy Trinity is coached by 1986 Teutopolis High School graduate Lisa Schumacher who grew up in Sigel and played on the 1986 girls team that won state.
Bloomington Holy Trinity will be squaring off against Mount Olive at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Auburn High School for the state title. Holy Trinity sports a 26-1 record as does Mount Olive.
