Lady Shoes Down Lady Bulldogs

The Teutopolis Lady Shoes rode a 22-4 first quarter advantage to a 62-24 win over the St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs Monday night.

Teutopolis led 36-8 at halftime and 51-17 after three quarters before posting an 11-7 fourth quarter edge to win by 38.

Teutopolis' offense and defense was clicking. The Shoes shot 52% from the field, 27 of 52, including 3 of 8 threes. T-Town made all five of its foul shots, pulled down 21 rebounds and committed just 10 turnovers.

On the defensive side of the equation, the Shoes helped St. Anthony to 27 turnovers and limited the Bulldogs to 26 shots, half the number taken by T-Town.

St. Anthony made 10 of those 26 shots for 39% including 0 for 4 on threes. The Bulldogs made 4 of 6 foul shots, and grabbed 14 rebounds.

Sadie Bueker led a balanced Teutopolis attack with 14 points while Macy Michels added 12 points. Also for the Shoes: Jolene Bueker 9, Marianna Hemmen 7, Olivia Niemerg 6, Morgan Mette 6, Claire Bushur 4, and Karsyn Mette, Emma Deters and Julia Frey 2 each.

St. Anthony was paced by Olivia Clausius with 15 points. Meg Richards scored 4 points, Sydney Gibson 3 and Shea Kinkelaar 2. The Lady Bulldogs got some minutes from Clare McHugh who is still nursing a bum ankle, but Maryann Saba is now out with a finger injury for the next three weeks.

The-state ranked Lady Shoes are now 11-0 on the season, while St. Anthony fell to 4-7.

Teutopolis won the JV game 78-16.
