C-H Claims Boys Win, Cumberland Falls

RAMSEY -- Cowden-Herrick tallied a 64-54 win over Ramsey in boys high school basketball competition Friday evening.

The Hornets trailed Ramsey 11-8 after the opening quarter but came back to lead 31-27 at halftime. Ramsey came back in the third quarter to pull within 47-44. The Hornets then had a 17-10 final period run. Cowden-Herrick banged home 10 three-pointers in the contest.

Ethan Schoonover, a 5-foot-10 senior, led the Hornets with 23 points while Luke Moore, a 6-foot-3 senior, tallied 21. Moore pulled down 13 rebounds and had a blocked shot and two steals. Colton Burrus led in assists with three. Tyson Morgason had two steals.

Iin a Saturday contest, Tri-County edged past Cumberland 49-45.

Tri-County took a 12-10 opening quarter lead but the Pirates came roaring back to lead 20-17 at halftime. The Pirates still held a lead at 34-30 going into the final quarter. Tri-County then had a 19-11 run to pull out the victory.

Motley led Tri-County with 23 points while Flesner tallied 11. Cumberland was led by Houston Napier with 13 points while Trevor Brumleve added 12 and Monte Wolke 11.
