North Clay, T-town, Newton, Altamont Claim Girls Wins

DIETERICH -- North Clay (Louisville) captured a National Trail Conference win over Dieterich in girls basketball action Thursday evening, 52-28.
The Cardinals zipped out to a 22-2 opening quarter lead and never looked back. Cassidy Coble was the only Cardinal in double figures with 14. But Brilee Kessler, Audrey Fleener and Taylor Jones all were on the verge of double figures with nine points each.
Dieterich was led by Anna Shadle with 11 points. Cassie Vahling led in rebounds with five. Gracie Britton had three steals. The Movin' Maroons drop to 0-4 in the conference, 2-9 overall.

At St. Joseph
Teutopolis took the early lead and nabbed a 54-49 victory over St. Joseph-Ogden in action Thursday.
The Wooden Shoes led 17-9 after the opening quarter and 29-26 at halftime. St. Joseph-Ogden pulled within 39-38 going into the final quarter. The Shoes then got back on track with a 15-11 run for the five-point win.
Jolene Bueker and Macy Michels scored 12 points each to lead T-town. Sadie Bueker had four assists. Michels blocked two shots. Mariana Hemmen led in rebounds with six and had three steals.

At Okaw Valley
Altamont had a big-scoring second quarter and a final period run to pull out a 49-45 non-conference win over Okaw Valley Thursday evening.
The Indians trailed 15-10 after the opening quarter but came roaring back with an 18-8 second period to lead 28-23 at halftime. Okaw Valley had a 9-6 third period to pull within 34-32. Altamont then came back strong with a 15-13 final period and the win.
Leah Mayhaus led the Indians with 13 points while Shelbi Stone added nine and Brooke Runge with eight.

At Ramsey
Ramsey hosted South Central and sent the Cougars home with a 42-39 loss Thursday evening.
Ramsey took a 16-15 halftime lead then had an 8-6 third period. Both teams scored 18 in the final quarter.
South Central was left by Kayli Swift with 16 and Sydnee Garrett with 13.
"We struggled at the start of the game with five turnovers on our first five posssesions but battled back and played some good basketball the rest of the game," said South Central Coach Gary Kapper. "We did a better job of being patient on offense and taking what the defense was giving us. Ramsey hit a couple of three's late in the fourth quarter that were big. We also had some chances at the end of the game to score but the ball just didn't bounce our way."
South Central drops to 1-6 on the season.

Newton pushed its record to 4-5 with a 53-25 win over Robinson Thursday.
The Eagles held a 24-15 halftime lead then tallied 16 more in the third period while holding Robinson scoreless.
Abby Frohning, a 5-foot-9 senior, tallied 24 points for the Eagles. Frohning and Taylor Snith had four rebounds each while Allison Harris had three. Harris led in assists with six and had three steals. Frohning also had three steals.
The Eagles also claimed the junior varsity contest 26-14.
