Junior High Boys Basketball Results -- Nov. 28

Effingham St. Anthony and Sigel St. Michael split victories in junior high boys basketball action Tuesday.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade encounter 28-25. St. Anthony moved into a 13-11 halftime lead then had a 6-2 third period.

Tegeler tallied nine to lead St. Anthony. St. Michael was led by Niebrugge with 10.

In eighth-grade play it was Sigel St. Michael all the way in a 47-12 victory.

The Sharpshooters took an 18-4 opening quarter lead and that was the game. Croy tallied 19 for the winners.

Sacred Heart was led by Feldhake with seven.

At Effingham

Effingham nabbed the seventh-grade victory over Salem Franklin Park, 51-21 Tuesday evening.

The Mustangs ran off to an 18-4 opening quarter lead and led 28-12 at halftime.

Westendorf and Estrada scored 10 points each for the winners who improve to 7-1.

In eighth-grade action, Salem Franklin Park won 36-23. Salem took a 22-9 halftime lead. The Mustangs played even with Franklin Park in the second half but couldn't make up that first half deficit.

Matteson scored six points and pulled down five rebounds for the Mustangs.

At Altamont

Atlamont Lutheran and Effingham St. Anthony split victories Tuesday evening.

St. Anthony picked up the seventh-grade victory over ALIS, 49-38. Altamont Lutheran took a 12-9 first quarter lead but St. Anthony came back with a 20-6 second quarter for a 29-18 halftime lead. Altamont Lutheran pulled within 38-31 going into the final period but the Bulllpups had an 11-8 scoring run.

Max Sager tallied 20 points for St. Anthony while Griffen Sehy added 11.

Altamont Lutheran captured the eighth-grade contest 42-40. ALIS edged out to a 9-8 opening quarter lead and led 21-15 at halftime. ALIS held a 27-25 lead going into the final quarter and held on for the victory.

Altamont Lutheran was led by Noah Klimpel with 15 and Quinn Verdeyen with 11.

St.  Anthony was led by J. Blanchette with 15.

Teutopolis handed Marshall two losses in action Tuesday evening.

T-town pounded Marshall 43-4 in the seventh-grade contest. T-town held a 31-0 halftime lead.

Caleb Siemer tallied 11 for the Shoes while Brendan Niebrugge chipped in with 10.

In eighth-grade action, T-town won 51-29. The Shoes led 31-11 at halftime.

Kaleb Bannick scored 25 for the Shoes while Sam Bushur added 15.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City handed Windsor a 56-18 loss in seventh-grade play. CHBC stepped out to a 24-5 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Thies tallied 16 for the winners. Curry led Windsor with nine. CHBC improves to 2-2 in the National Trail Conference, 4-3 overall.

In eighth-grade play, CHBC was a 37-28 winner. Lucas scored 10 for the winners. Colclasure led Windsor with 12.

CHBC is now 4-0 in the NTC, 7-1 overall.

Jasper County split wins with Robinson Nuttall in action Tuesday evening.

In seventh-grade play, Robinson Nuttall claimed 30-24 victory. Nuttall held a 21-12 halftime lead.

Jasper County was led by Mahaffey with 11 points and drops to 2-8.

In the eighth-grade contest, Jasper County won 33-25. Jasper County trailed Nuttall 9-8 after the opening quarter but took a 19-15 halftime lead and had a 14-10 second half.

Roy tallied eight points for the winners who improve to 5-5.

Stewardson-Strasburg tallied a 40-24 victory over host South Central Tuesday evening, 40-24.

Stew-Stras led 19-15 at halftime then had an 18-6 third quarter. J. Wittenburg scored 15 while A. Wittenburg tallied 14 for the winners. The Stars improved to 6-0 in the National Trail Conference, 10-0 overall.

In eighth-grade play, South Central prevailed 43-41. South Central trailed 23-21 at halftime but moved ahead 34-33 going into the final period then had a 9-8 edge.

Willshire scored 23 while Holmes finished with 11 for the winners.

Wernsing led Stew-Stras with 12. The Stars dropped to 1-5 in the conference, 2-9 overall.

South Central was led by Dodson with 12.

Cumberland claimed the seventh-grade contest over Newton St. Thomas, 44-26.

In eighth-grade competition, St. Thomas beat Cumberland 41-35 in overtime. High scorers for St. Thomas were Mason Schafer and Leo Weber with 16 points each.
