Girls eighth-grade basketball regionals got underway around the area Monday evening.
Class 8-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional
Dieterich advanced in this regional with a victory.
Dieterich pounded Cisne 54-5 in the second contest. In the opener, Mattoon St. John's edged Ramsey 27-23.
In the third game, Martinsville downed Effingham Sacred Heart 32-27.
Tonight's games find Sigel St. Michael taking on Mattoon St. John's at 6 followed by Dieterich meeting Martinsville at 7:15. The winners advance to the championship game Thursday.
Class 8-2A South Central Regional
Brownstown/St. Elmo captured a 30-14 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday evening.
BSE took a 9-2 opening quarter lead and led 14-4 at halftime. BSE had a 16-10 second half.
BSE was led by Wilhour with 12 points and Griggs with 11. CHBC was led by Mady Wojcik with six. CHBC ends with an 11-12 record.
In the second game, Altamont handed Stewarsdson-Strasburg a 47-16 loss. Altamont took a 28-7 first half lead and never looked back.
McManaway scored 26 points while Walker and Nelson had eight each for the winners.
Stew-Stras was led by Hayes with seven. Stew-Stras ends the season with a 2-18 record.

Class 8-3A Paris Mayo Regional
Arthur opened with a 29-19 win over Sullivan in opening round play at the Paris Mayo Regional.
In the second game, Shelbyville Moulton downed Cumberland 33-25.
Paris Mayo now meets Arthur at 6followed by Tuscola East Prairie against Shelbyville Moulton at 7:30 tonight.
