Windsor/Stew-Stras Second at CG/Bement

CERRO GORDO -- Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg High School captured second place at the Cerro Gordo/Bement Boys Basketball Turkey Tournament Saturday.

In Wednesday action, Windsor/Stew-Stras downed Farmer City Blue Ridge 46-40. Farmer City Blue Ridge led 26-18 at halftime. WSS then came roaring back with a 28-14 second half to pull out the victory. Kessler and Theis tallied 13 points each for the winners.

In Friday play, Windsor/Stew-Stras beat Sangamon Valley 65-34. WSS took the early lead and was never headed. Burton and Kessler scored 14 each while Miller chipped in with 11.

The Hatchets then downed Cerro Gordo/Bement 45-42. WSS held a 25-19 halftime lead and a 37-26 lead going into the final quarter. CGB then mounted a comeback only to fall short.

Kessler scored 13 and Kramer 10 for the Hatchets.

In the championship game, Clinton was a 56-38 winner over WSS. WSS held a 13-12 opening quarter lead but Clinton went 36-13 over the next two quarters.

Kessler was the lone player in double figures for the Hatchets with 15 points.
