CHBC Girls Tourney Opens With Four Games

COWDEN -- The Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Girls Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament opened play Tuesday evening.
In the opener, Neoga downed Ramsey 58-17. The Indians ripped off to a 17-0 opening quarter lead and the game was over.
Banning tallied 21 for the winners while Atwell chipped in with nine and O. Titus had eight.
In the second game, Dieterich edged Sandoval 39-38. The Blackhawks took an 11-4 opening quarter lead and led 17-15 at halftime. Sandoval still led 26-20 going into the final quarter when Dieterich rallied with a 19-12 run to pull out the one point victory.
Shadle scored 14 for the Movin' Maroons while Bierman added nine and Vahling eight.
Sandoval was led by Hammer with 19.
In the third game, Decatur MacArthur downed host Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 54-38. MacArthur took an 18-6 opening quarter lead and was never headed the rest of the way.
CHBC was led by Endsley with 13 and Robertson with 11.
In the final game of the evening, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg beat Cumberland 42-25. WSS held a slight 18-16 halftime lead then had a 24-9 second half.
M. Schlechte tallied 11 while Trussell added nine and Dasenbrock eight for the winners.
The tournament doesn't return to action until Friday with four games at the high school and four at the junior high.
