Effingham played host to Hillsboro in its freshman/sophomore girls basketball season opener and split wins Thursday.
The Mustangs tallied a 35-28 victory in sophomore play. The Hearts trailed Hillsboro 15-10 at halftime but came back with a 22-13 second half.
Dively tallied 17 for the Hearts while Carie scored eight.
In the freshman game, Hillsboro edged the Hearts 29-25.
The score was knotted at 13-13 at halftime before Hillsboro had an 11-4 third quarter run.
Effingham was led by Hayley Dively with nine points.
