Effingham Junior High School claimed two victories over Dieterich in girls basketball competition Monday.
The Mustangs claimed the seventh-grade game 40-12. Effingham took a 16-4 opening quarter lead and never looked back. Niebrugge scored 12 points while Frost added seven for the winners.
Dieterich was led by L. Brummer and Miramontes with four points each.
In eighth-grade play, Effingham led 13-8 at halftime and tallied a 26-18 win. Schaefer scored 11 and Althoff seven for the Mustangs.
Dieterich was led by Pruemer with 11 points.

At Mattoon
Effingham St. Anthony claimed an eighth-grade win but came up short in seventh-grade action Monday.
The Bullpups were a 39-32 winner over Mattoon. St. Anthony led 18-14 at halftime but trailed 26-24 going into the final quarter. The Bullpups rallied with a 15-6 final period.
Guy tallied 12 while Wegman and Hakman had eight each for the winners. St. Anthony is now 17-2 on the season.
In seventh-grade play, Mattoon won 34-28. Mattoon held a 20-13 halftime lead then had a 14-8 second half.
Fearday tallied 10 for the Bullpups.

At Teutopolis
Teutopolis scored in the 30 point range in both victories over Vandalia Monday evening.
The Wooden Shoes tallied a 38-4 win in the seventh-grade contest to improve to 15-3. Emily Konkel led the way with 23 points.
In the eighth-grade game, T-town won 39-4. The four points for Vandalia came in the opening quarter. Grace Tegeler scored 10 to lead the Shoes who are now 16-2.

Jasper County claimed two home victories over Martinsville Tuesday evening.
In the seventh-grade game, Jasper County pounded Martinsville 40-4. The four points came in the third quarter. Jasper County led 16-0 at halftime. Alexis Hetzer tallied 10 points for the winners.
In the second game, Jasper County was a 28-24 winner. Ava Kessler scored 12 for the winners.
