Effingham Junior High School moved its records upward with victories over Robinson Nuttall in boys basketball action Monday.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest 42-21. Robinson Nuttall held a 7-5 opening quarter lead but Effingham came back strong with a 17-5 second period. Pontious tallied 12 for the winners while Westendorf added nine to improve to 4-1 on the season.

In the eighth-grade contest, Effingham claimed a 44-30 victory. The Mustangs broke a 10-10 opening quarter tie with a 12-5 second period and had a 14-9 third quarter. Braydon Pals led the way in scoring with 14 points and five rebounds. Dalton Fox had five rebounds. Nelson led the way with six boards.

At Altamont

Altamont captured a seventh-grade victory over Dieterich Monday evening, 40-22.

Altamont led 19-10 at halftime then had a 21-12 second half. Hammer tallied 12 points for the winners while Eirhart added eight and Kollman seven.

Dieterich was led by Britton and Kidd with 10 points each.

In the eighth-grade contest, Dieterich came out the winner with a 41-28 score.

Dieterich trailed Altamont 7-6 after the opening quarter but edged out to a 15-11 halftime lead. The two teams scored 12 in the third quarter before Dieteirch had a 14-5 final period run.

Lidy tallied 19 and B. Budde 14 for the winners. Altamont was led by Suckow and Winn with six each.

At Strasburg

Stewardson-Strasburg claimed the seventh-grade victory over Okaw Valley in action Monday evening, 43-8.

Stew-Stras dominated, taking a 19-0 opening quarter lead. J. Wittenberg tallied 15 for the winners while Davis added eight as the Stars improved to 6-0.

In the eighth-grade game, Okaw Valley prevailed with a 33-21 win. Stew-Stras led 11-10 after one period but fell behind 16-15 at halftime.

Wernsing scored 11 for the Stars who drop to 1-6.

 At Flora

Jasper County split victories with Flora Floyd Henson Monday evening.

Floyd Henson claimed the seventh-grade game 30-22. Henson led 15-4 at halftime and never looked back. Jasper County was led by Street with eight points. The squad drops to 1-4.

In eighth-grade play, Jasper County led 15-12 at halftime then had a 27-22 second half for a 42-34 win.

Meinhart led the way with 13 points while Koebele and Schafer tallied 11 points each for the winners who improve to 4-1.
