Junior High Boys Basketball Results -- Nov. 7

Effingham Junior High School split victories with Mount Zion in boys basketball action Tuesday evening.

In seventh-grade play, the two teams were tied at 10-10 after the opening quarter. Mt. Zion moved ahead 20-16 at halftime. Effingham tied the score at 24-24 going into the final quarter then had a 14-8 final period for the 38-32 victory.

The Mustangs were led by Wolfe with 13 points and improve to 2-0.

In the eighth-grade contest, Mount Zion won 41-29. Mount Zion led 18-15 at halftime then had a 19-3 third quarter run.

Joe Matteson scored nine for the Mustangs. Max Nelson had eight rebounds while Dalton Fox and Max Hardiek had four each. Fox led in steals with five. EJHS drops to 0-2.

At  Effingham

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony played host to Casey-Westfield Roosevelt and claimed two victories Tuesday evening.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade contest easily 46-27. St. Anthony took an 8-6 opening quarter lead then had a 16-6 second quarter run.

Max Sager tallied 16 and Jon Willenborg 12 for the winners who improve to 3-1.

In eighth-grade play, the Bullpups led 17-11 at halftime and 29-27 going into the final quarter. Three players hit double digits, Angelo Mendella with 13, Kyle Stewart with 12 and Brody Niebrugge with 10.

At Flora

Teutopolis downed Flora twice Tuesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes took a 43-10 seventh-grade win. T-town had a 13-3 first quarter and 15-1 third period. B. Niebrugge and Niemerg scored 14 each.

In eighth-grade play, T-town was a 40-27 winner. Bannick scored 15 and Bushur 11 for the winners.

At Altamont

Sigel St. Michael and Altamont split victories Tuesday evening.

Altamont Lutheran downed St. Michael 40-23 in seventh-grade play.

Altamont Lutheran ripped out to a 19-0 opening quarter lead and that set the pace for the game. Mason Robinson led seven players in scoring with 11 points. St. Michael was led by Nick Ruholl with nine.

In the eighth-grade game, St. Michael picked up a 67-34 victory. The Sharpshooters had a 22-9 opening quarter.

Craig Croy led the Sharpshooters with 25 points while Max Niebrugge added 18. Altamont Lutheran was led by Noah Klimpel with 10.
