NOKOMIS -- Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City claimed third place in the Nokomis Eighth-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament Friday.
CHBC took a 9-2 opening quarter lead and held Morrisonville scoreless in the second period to lead 27-2 at halftime.
Daniel Lucas tallied nine to lead CHBC.

At Altamont
Altamont Lutheran easily handled Mattoon St. John's in action Friday.
Atlamont Lutheran won the seventh-grade game 45-22. ALIS edged out to a 7-4 opening quarter lead then outran St. John's 18-4 in the third quarter on the strength of four baskets by Logan Cornett.
Cornett finished with 16 points for the winners while Nathan Shepard chipped in with nine.
In eighth-grade play, Altamont Lutheran took a 37-11 halftime lead and never looked back in the 61-29 victory.
Three players hit double digits for the winners. Cornett tallied 16 while Quin Verdeyen and Noah Klimpel had 12 each.
ALIS then competed in the Central City Eighth-Grade Shootout and downed Selmaville 54-41.

At Marion
Teutopolis competed in the Marion Edison Shootout Saturday.
In seventh-grade play, Teutopolis defeated Marion 37-15. T-town led 23-10 going into the final quarter. B. Niebrugge led the Shoes with 12 points.
In the eighth-grade contest, T-town fell to Marion 48-40. Marion ran off to a 22-6 first quarter lead. T-town could never make up that run. K .Althoff scored 16 for the Shoes.
In another seventh-grade contest, T-town was a 44-25 winner over Champaign Jefferson.
B. Niebrrugge scored 13 and Niemerg 11 for the Shoes.
