Effingham and Effingham St. Anthony both picked up a victory against each other in girls junior high basketball action Thursday.
The Mustangs won the seventh-grade encounter 38-9. Mapes scored 12 and Niebrugge 11 for the winners .
St. Anthony was led by Fearday with three points.
In the eighth-grade contest, the Bullpups won 33-30. St. Anthony trailed 20-17 at halftime and 24-22 going into the final period and pulled out the win.
Guy scored nine points to lead the Bullpups who are now 12-1 on the season. Schaefer scored 10 for Effingham.

At Strasburg
Stewardson-Strasburg fell to Shelbyville Moulton in action Thursday evening.
Shelbyville Moulton edged Stew-Stras 29-26 in the seventh-grade contest. M. Wade tallied 17 for the winners. Stew-Stras was led by Wernsing with 14 as the squad dropped to 3-16.
In eighth-grade play, Moulton won 38-24. M. Wade tallied 18 and T. Wade 12 for the winners.
Stew-Stras was led by Kinkelaar and Hayes with 10 points each. Stew-Stras dropped to 0-14.

At Altamont
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City nabbed two wins over Altamont Thursday.
CHBC claimed the seventh-grade game 40-23. CHBC held an 18-11 halftime lead then had a 22-12 second half run.
CHBC was led by Mady Wojcik with 20 points and Gracie Heckert with 11. CHBC improves to 7-0 in the National Trail Conference and 15-2 overall.
Altamont was led by Nelson with seven points.
In eighth-grade action, CHBC edged Altamont 35-34. CHBC had an 18-13 halftime lead and led 28-22 going into the final quarter. Altamont made a comeback bid with a 12-7 run only to fall short.
Wojcik tallied 16 and Lani Morrison 11 for the winners who improve to 4-3 in the conference, 10-7 overall.
Altamont was led by McManaway with 15 points.

Jasper County claimed the seventh-grade game over Oblong 37-19 in action Thursday evening.
Emma Oldham tallied 15 points and had seven rebounds.
In the eighth-grade game, Jasper County won 42-13. Morgan White scored 16.
