Dieterich Falls to Christ Our Rock Lutheran in Girls Action

DIETERICH -- Dieterich High School edged out to an 18-15 opening quarter lead but couldn't hold on as Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran claimed a 50-42 win in girls basketball Tuesday evening.

Christ Our Rock moved into a 30-28 halftime lead then had a 10-5 third period run to put the game in the win column. Amanda Gieger tallied 22 to lead the winners while Sabrina Maschhoff chipped in with 15.

Dieterich was led by Candace Niemerg with 14 points and seven rebounds. Mallorie Vahling led in the rebound category with eight and had three steals. Sydney Higgs and Niemerg had two assists each.

The Movin' Maroons drop to 7-2 on the season. and are back in action Thursday playing host to North Clay (Louisville).
