Effingham St. Anthony captured the championship of the Class 8-1A Effingham Sacred Heart Girls Basketball Regional Friday.

St. Anthony defeated Sigel St. Michael 37-27. There was no other information reported on this game.

St. Anthony will advance to its own sectional Wednesday to face Maryville Christian at 6 p.m. for the championship and the right to advance to the state tournament.

Class 8-3A Marshall Regional

Teutopolis edged Marshall 39-38 to win the regional championship Friday.

Marshall held an 8-6 opening quarter lead and pushed that to 16-8 at halftime. T-town still trailed after the third quarter 30-18. T-town then mounted an enormous rally, outscoring Marshall 21-8 to pull out the one-point victory.

Shelby Thompson scored 13 for the winners while Jamie Sandschafer added eight and Raegan Drees seven.

T-town improves to 23-1 and will advance to the Cumberland Sectional Wednesday at 6 p.m. to battle Lawrenceville Parkview. The winner advances to the state tournament.

8-3A Lawrenceville Parkview Regional

Jasper County saw its season come to an end in the Lawrenceville Parkview Regional Friday.

Jasper County lost to the host squad 42-31. Lawrenceville Parkview advances to the Cumberland Sectional Wednesday to face Teutopolis at 6 p.m.

8-4A Mattoon Regional

Mattoon claimed its own regional championship with a victory over Champaign Jefferson.

Mattoon was a 61-34 winner and will now face Mahomet-Seymour Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Mahomet-Seymour Sectional.
