Altamont, Brownstown, Newton Nab Boys Wins

Altamont played host to Brownstown in boys high school basketball Friday evening and claimed an 85-66 victory.
The Indians stepped out to a 23-17 opening quarter lead and pushed that to 48-35 at halftime. Altamont then blew the game apart with a 31-5 third period run. Garrett Ziegler tallied eight points in that quarter while Jon Kuhns scored six, all from the free throw line. Derek Jahraus tallied six on two three-pointers.
Seidel pulled down 15 rebounds while Jahraus had 14 and Ryan Mayhaus 13. Ziegler had five steals while Logan Hill had four assists.
Four players hit double digits for the winners. Ziegler finished with 17 while Jahraus tallied 16, Kuhns 13 and Jake Seidel 10.
Brownstown was led by Matt Sefton with 24, Behrends with 16 and Austin Hunter with 14.

At Cowden
Cowden-Herrick edged Beecher City 70-63. The Hornets jumped out to a 19-8 first quarter lead and led 26-17 at halftime. Beecher City held a 26-24 edge in the third period but the Hornets held on for the victory.
Luke Moore tallied 24 and Tyson Morgason scored 15 for the winners. Moore had a double-double with 24 points and 19 rebounds. Caleb Heiserman had four steals and three assists.
Riley led Beecher City with 20 while Krueger tallied 19.
