Brownstown Wins Mulberry Grove Tourney

Brownstown handed Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran a 70-65 loss in the championship game of the Ramsey/Mulberry Grove Boys Basketball Tournament Saturday.

The Bombers finished the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record to claim the title. Brownstown edged out to an 18-17 opening quarter lead but the score was tied at 34-34 at halftime and 52-52 going into the final period. The Bombers then had an 18-13 final period run to pull out the victory.

Hunter led the Bombers with 23 points and had 19 rebounds. Sefton tallied 21 points, pulled down seven rebounds and had five assists while Behrends had 18 points and five rebounds.

In the fifth place contest, Cowden-Herrick defeated Mulberry Grove 55-43. Cowden-Herrick zipped out to a 15-3 opening quarter lead and led 29-11 at halftime. Luke Moore and Tyson Morgason scored 12 each while Ethan Schoonover scored 10.
