St. Elmo Downs North Clay, South Central Falls to Vandalia

ST. ELMO -- St. Elmo High School picked up a 55-43 non-conference boys basketball victory over North Clay (Louisville) Tuesday evening.
The score was tied at 6-6 after the opening quarter. The Eagles moved ahead 18-15 at halftime. In the second half it was a back and forth affair as St. Elmo's Beasley scored 11 of his team's 19 and Micklautz tallied nine of his team's 13. St. Elmo led 37-28 going into the final quarter.
St. Elmo then hit from the free throw line in the final period connecting on 11 of 17. Levi Maxey tallied 17 and Beasley 16 for the winners.
North Clay was led by Micklautz with 13.
Vandalia 46, South Central 26
Vandalia leaped out to a 23-12 opening half lead and never looked back in this one.
The Vandals connected on five three-pointers in the contest. Harter was the lone player in double figures with 12 but six other players scored in the contest.
South Central was led by Tharp with 16. The Cougars drop to 0-1.
