Dieterich, Neoga, St. Anthony Advance in NTC

Dieterich, Neoga and Effingham St. Anthony were opening round winners in the National Trail Conference Girls Basketball Tournament Tuesday evening at Beecher City High School.

The tourney continues Friday as South Central takes on Brownstown/St. Elmo in consolation round play at 5:30 p.m., Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City against Dieterich at 7 p.m. in winner bracket play and Neoga facing St. Anthony at 8:30.

Dieterich 44, Altamont 18

Dieterich held a 15-10 first half lead. The Movin' Maroons then whipped out to a 31-14 lead going into the final quarter.

Candace Niemerg led the winners with 18 points while Courtney Flach tallied eight. Altamont was led by Lauren Ohnesorge with six.

Neoga 67, South Central 22

Three players hit double figures for Neoga as the Indians ripped out to a 41-11 halftime lead. Jillian Deters tallied 21, Madison Butler 16 and EC Thies 15 for the winners. South Central was led by Macie Cain with eight.

St. Anthony 50, Brownstown/St. Elmo 20

St. Anthony pushed ahead 30-8 at halftime and never looked back in this one. The Bulldogs had two players in double figures. Megan Nuxoll scored 14 and Makayla Walsh 10.

Brownstown/St. Elmo was led by Bethany Oberlink and Molly Hill with five points each.
