TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis and Effingham each claimed a win during girls junior high school basketball play Thursday evening.

The Mustangs picked up a 38-10 victory in seventh-grade action. Effingham jumped out to an 11-2 first quarter lead and led 28-5 at halftime. S. Myers tallied 15 and C. Martin 10 for the winners. T-town finishes the regular season at 14-8 and 3-2 in the South Central Conference.

In eighth-grade play, T-town claimed a 36-6 victory. The Wooden Booties led 19-3 at halftime and never looked back. Shelby Thompson was the lone player in double figures with 10. T-town's eighth-grade finishes the regular season with a 21-1 record and first place finish in the South Central Conference with a 5-0 mark.

At Sigel

Sigel St. Michael claimed two victories over Dieterich Thursday evening. In the seventh-grade contest, St. Michael was a 43-6 winner. Jolene Bueker led the winners with 16 points while Sadie Bueker tallied nine. Deain led Dieterich with four.

In the eighth-grade action, St. Michael was a 52-13 winner. St. Michael held a 27-9 lead at halftime. Christy Hoene tallied 23 and Kacie Hotze 11 for the winners. Ahern led Dieterich with six.

Stewardson-Strasburg was a winner in seventh-grade play while Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick claimed the eighth-grade contest.

In the seventh-grade game, Stew-Stras won 27-14, taking a 14-7 first half lead. Tabbert tallied nine for the winners. Taylor Oldham led BCCH with eight.

In the eighth-grade game, BCCH edged Stew-Stras 29-28. Stew-Stras held a 19-18 first half lead. BCCH was led by Sarah Kirchhofer with 10 points. Schlechte led Stew-Stras with 19.
