EDWARDSVILLE – Southeran Illinois University-Edwardsville Athletics is proud to announce it has entered into a partnership with FOX Sports Midwest to televise several men's basketball games during the upcoming season.
FOX Sports Midwest will produce and televise five SIUE home games. FOX Sports Midwest already has televised the SIUE game at Missouri Nov. 10 as part of Mizzou's television package and will televise the game at Saint Louis Dec. 28 as part of the Billikens television package.
In addition, for the second consecutive year, KPLR 11 and KPLR-TV.2 Digital will broadcast SIUE Cougars basketball.
"We continue to move forward building new relationships that will establish our Division I foundation and opportunity for success," SIUE Director of Athletics Dr. Brad Hewitt said.
"Media partners are part of the Division I brand, and we cannot thank FOX Sports Midwest and KPLR enough for the partnership, support, and opportunity."
"SIUE is an up-and-coming Division I program, and this new package enables region-wide exposure for the Cougars," said FOX Sports Midwest Senior Vice President and General Manager Jack Donovan. "We're pleased to add SIUE to our lineup alongside the Cardinals, Blues, Rams, Mizzou, SLU, the Missouri Valley, and high school sports."
In all, 12 games will be televised by one of the three outlets, including the previously-announced game at Saint Louis. Eight games will be televised live while three others will air on a tape-delayed basis. The home television schedule begins with the Nov. 20 game when SIUE welcomes SIU Carbondale to Vadalabene Center. Five Ohio Valley Conference games in January and four February Ohio Valley Conference games also will appear on television.
KPLR 11 and KPLR TV.2 will broadcast four home games. All of those games will be produced by SIUE's video production staff including current SIUE students. KPLR also will carry the Jan. 19 SIUE game at Murray State. That game will be produced locally in Murray, Ky.
"We're pleased to be able to partner with SIUE for the second consecutive year," KPLR General Manager Spencer Koch said. "We are excited to provide viewers with good college basketball and hope to be able to continue to for years to come."
The Voice of the Cougars, Joe Pott will be part of the broadcasts on both FOX Sports Midwest and KPLR. The entire crew has not yet been decided.
