Effingham Junior High School's seventh-grade boys basketball squad got off to a slow start Monday evening, only scoring two points in the first quarter. It wasn't until about halfway through the second quarter when they went on a 10-0 run to take the lead and used a 14-5 scoring advantage to lead 16-12 at halftime. They went on for a 46-36 win over Robinson Nuttall.
Effingham evened its record at 2-2 and conference record at 1-1. Ryan Sandifer tallied 17 and Mason Hull 10 for the winners.
In eighth-grade action Effingham claimed a 39-25 win over Robinson. Wolfe tallied 14 points, had six rebounds and four steals. Donaldson tallied eight points and had seven rebounds. Effingham is now 4-0 on the season.

At Findlay
Stewardson-Strasburg and Okaw Valley split victories. Stew-Stras was a 34-25 winner in seventh-grade action.
Thies tallied 12 and Kramer 11 in a one-two scoring punch as the winners improved to 3-2.
In eighth-grade play, Okaw Valley claimed a 35-26 victory. Stew-Stras (2-4) was led by Moschenrose with 12.

At Dieterich
Dieterich and Altamont were both winners. Dieterich picked up the seventh-grade victory 44-27.
In eighth-grade action, Altamont claimed a 53-11 win.
At Louisville
North Clay (Louisville) improved to 2-2 on the season and 2-0 in the Midland Trail Conference with a win against Olney St. Joe Monday.
North Clay won 65-23. Cody Smith tallied 21 and Quincy Aldrich 16.
At Newton
Jasper County edged Flora 31-28 in eighth-grade action Monday evening.
Jasper County broke an 8-8 first quarter tie to lead 18-16. The score was tied at 24-24 going into the final quarter and Jasper County pulled out the win. Tim Weber tallied 18 for the winners.
