Effingham High School senior Mikayla Greene plans to play college basketball for Lincoln Christian University.

Greene didn't get a ton of minutes of playing time for the Lady Hearts due to the depth of a 26-win team, but Coach Jeff Schafer also said she was a good player who contributed to the team in many ways. Now, she has another opportunity to show it on the court.

Schafer said, "I am very excited for Mikayla to find a school that matches her values and great qualities she possesses that will allow her to play basketball at the next level.

"Mikayla loves playing the game of basketball; I think it is awesome that her hard work and determination have paid off and that she is going to get this opportunity.

"Mikayla's team finished 26-5 in 3A, winning the Newton, Charleston and Effingham Tournaments. They also won the Taylorville 3A Regional and were ranked as high as 7th in the state polls.

"Lincoln Christian is getting a quality young lady with high standards and values that will represent their college at the highest level."
