John Steppe Tallies 27 in McKendree Loss

Effingham St. Anthony High School graduate John Steppe tallied 27 points but McKendree University fell to Ohio Dominican Sunday 85-77. In Saturday play, Tiffin University (Ohio) defeated McKendree, 72-52.

Steppe scored five points and pulled down two rebounds in the loss to Tiffin Saturday. Steppe hit one of nine field goals and was two of two at the line.  He had one assist, one block and two steals.

Steppe then broke loose on Sunday with 27 points in the loss to Ohio Dominican. The 6-foot-4 senior connected on 10 of 15 field goals, was four of four from three point range and hit three of four at the free throw line. He grabbed eight boards, had five assists and a steal.

McKendree will be back in action Wednesday against Lincoln University of Missouri.
