Sacred Heart, Beecher City Split; Area Roundup

BEECHER CITY -- Beecher City and Effingham Sacred Heart split wins in boys junior high basketball play Thursday evening.

Beecher City was a 23-16 winner in seventh-grade play, Beecher City held a 17-5 halftime lead. Joseph Galloway tallied eight to lead the way for the winners. Sherrod led the Shamrocks with 11.

In eighth-grade action, the Shamrocks picked up a 42-22 win. Tegeler tallied 12 and J. Bushue 11 for the winners. Draven Martin led Beecher Cty with six.

At Altamont

Altamont handed visiting Sigel St. Michael two losses. In the seventh-grade game, Altamont edged out to a 14-12 halftime lead and outscored St. Michael 14-11 in the second half. Altamont had even scoring as M. Stevenson tallied nine, N. Brown eight and K. Pemberton eight. St. Michael was led by Wolke with 11.

In the eighth-grade game, Atlamont was a 45-33 winner. Altamont trailed 18-14 at halftime then had a 20-11 third period run to pull out the victory. Stone scored 11, Armstrong 10 and Cornett 10 for the winners. D. Walk tallied nine for St. Michael.

Teutopolis downed Mattoon in two B games. T-town was a 49-13 winner in seventh-grade play. The Wooden Booties took a 30-10 first half lead and never looked back. D. Buenker scored 11 and E. Kremer 10 for the winners.

In eighth-grade action, T-town was a 46-9 winner. T-town took a 30-2 first half lead. D. Mette tallied 14 for the winners.
